DALLAS — Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson has accepted a bet with Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi prior to Game 1 of the NHL Western Conference Final.
Sohi took to X to call out Dallas as he stated, "We already know Alberta beef is better, and the northern lights beat southern heat any day. Next, we're adding hockey to the list of ways Edmonton is better!"
The Edmonton mayor then suggested the two make a bet -- a jersey bet.
"When the Oilers beat the Stars, you have to wear an Oilers jersey and record a video wishing us good luck in the Stanley Cup Final. If your team wins, I'll do the same," Sohi explained in his X post.
Johnson replied Thursday afternoon, accepting the proposal and boasting his confidence in the Stars.
Mega hockey fans know the hottest debate on ice is the garment that hockey players wear -- is called a jersey or a sweater?
Either way -- we will see one of these mayors go public with their reluctant support for the opposing team.
Catch Game 1 of the Western Conference Final on Thursday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. CT (TNT, truTV, MAX, SN, CBC, TVAS).
