CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton was involved in a car accident in Charlotte on Tuesday, a team spokesperson confirmed to CBS Sports.

Dalton was traveling with his wife, three kids and dog in Charlotte when they were involved in the accident. According to the team source, no one from Dalton's car was transported by emergency medical personnel.

The same spokesperson told CBS that Dalton is being evaluated by Panthers medical personnel.

The Panthers have not commented on the crash or Dalton's status. Carolina has a home game Sunday afternoon against the Broncos live on CBS at 4:25 p.m.

It's unclear if Dalton will be able to play in Sunday's game. This season, the veteran quarterback is 1-4 as a starter with 989 passing yards and seven touchdowns against six interceptions.

This isn't the first time a Carolina quarterback has been involved in a car accident that made headlines. Back in 2014, Cam Newton was involved in a crash in Charlotte that landed him in the hospital.

Like Dalton, Newton was able to avoid serious injury. Newton wore the hospital bracelet from the incident for at least a year after it happened.
