DALLAS — Former Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer is expected to be hired by the Dallas Cowboys as the teaam's new defensive coordinator, according to a tweet from reporter Tom Pelissero.
"Zimmer, 67, is the third-winningest head coach in #Vikings history and long respected for his defensive prowess," Pelissero wrote. "A big hire for Dallas, where Zimmer previously coached from 1994-2006."
From 2014 to 2021, Zimmer was the head coach of the Vikings, and in 2022 was an analyst/consultant for Jackson State's football team. Zimmer also has experience as a defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons and Washington State, as well as his previous stint with Dallas. He was a defensive backs coach for the Cowboys when they won the Super Bowl in 1996.
