DALLAS — It pays to play. Or even just be on the roster.
With the Dallas Cowboys advancing to the NFC Divisional Round, that means every Cowboy on the active roster will receive a hefty playoff bonus of $46,500.
And that's on top of $41,500 they received, per player, for the Wild Card round.
Those numbers are courtesy of Spotrac, which tracks sports salaries, bonuses and payrolls.
The playoff bonuses increase exponentially with each round.
If the Cowboys win Sunday and advance to the NFC Championship Game, each player will receive $69,000.
A Super Bowl appearance would net each player a minimum of $239,000, for a loss, and $314,000 for a win, according to Spotrac's numbers.
The Cowboys face the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round in Santa Clara, Calif., on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. CT.
The game will be a rematch of last year's Wild Card game in which the Cowboys lost at home. And will it also bring back memories of the epic Cowboys-49ers battles of the 1990s.
Before Monday night's win at Tampa Bay, the Cowboys' last road playoff victory was an NFC Championship win at San Francisco in January 1993. The win preceded Dallas' first of three Super Bowl victories over four years. It was also when Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson, in the postgame locker room, yelled his famous line: "How 'bout them Cowboys?!"
This week, Dallas will try to make it one week - not 30 years - between postseason road victories.
