Woman claiming to be Jerry Jones’ daughter refiles defamation lawsuit

Davis originally sued Jones in March 2022 to seek recognition as his biological daughter.

DALLAS — A woman claiming to be Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ daughter refiled a defamation lawsuit Tuesday against Jones, his lawyer, and a communications consultant, according to documents obtained by WFAA.

In the refiled complaint, Alexandra Davis alleged Jones, Donald Jack, the lawyer, and the consultant, Jim Wilkinson portrayed her as an “extortionist.”

WFAA reported earlier this month that U.S. District Court Judge Robert W. Schroeder III, who presides over a Texarkana court in the Eastern District of Texas, dismissed the defamation suit filed by Davis in October. However, the judge allowed Davis’ lawyers the opportunity to refile their complaint, in which they alleged Jones, Jack, and Wilkinson made defamatory statements about her after she claimed Jones is her father, according to ABC News.

Davis initially sued Jones in March of 2022 seeking recognition as Jones’ biological daughter. The lawsuit centered on statements made in court filings, an affidavit from Jack recounting a meeting he had with Davis and articles about the paternity case published in ESPN.

Schroeder concluded that the statements Davis was suing over were either true or didn't amount to defamation, but allowed Davis’ lawyers the opportunity to refile the complaint, ABC News reported. The new complaint alleges Wilkinson and Jack falsely accused Davis of “of being an extortionist and portrayed Plaintiff as attempting to “shakedown” Defendant Jones.”

“Throughout their smear campaign against Plaintiff, Defendants either knew the statements being made by them were false or they knew enough facts such that they should have entertained serious doubts as to the truth of their defamatory statements,” the new complaint reads.

Wilkinson told ABC News Jones had no comment after the defamation suit was dismissed last month, and Wilkinson declined to comment.

WFAA has also reached out to Wilkinson. We’ll update if more information becomes available.
