NEW YORK — One of the great offensive linemen in the Dallas Cowboys' history is signing with the New York Jets in free agency. Tyron Smith is signing with the Jets, according to multiple reports, becoming the new blindside protector for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Smith was allowed by the Cowboys to walk in free agency, but VP Stephen Jones said Thursday that Dallas hadn't ruled out the possibility of Smith returning to the team. That option is now off the table.
Smith was named an All-Pro for the fifth time in his career in 2023, earning 2nd Team honors after his healthiest season in recent vintage. It was Smith's first All-Pro nod since 2016. He was also a member of the NFL's All-Decade Team in the 2010s.
