DALLAS — Former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith selects personalized #22 Herradura Double Barrel Reposado from Casa Herradura.
The Hall of Fame member held a draft party at The Rustic hosted by Tequila Herradura and 1310 "The Ticket" to benefit the Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities and talked about Emmitt Smith's No. 22 Herradura Double Barrel Reposado selection.
The desire for Smiths' #22 Herradura Double Barrel Reposado selection came about after having worked with Herradura since 2010 during the ramp up for Super Bowl XLV in Arlington.
"I've been working with Herradura for about 10 years now," said Smith. "When I first went to the Hacienda itself to see the distillery process, how they produced the perfect tequila, the hand-harvested agaves, the blue agaves and the fields, the 22,000 acres. I was completely blown away by the quality."
Emmitt Smith’s No. 22 Double Barrel Reposado is 100% blue agave tequila aged for 11 months in oak barrels and an additional month in a brand new toasted oak barrel.
Smith had been talking with Herradura for years about selecting his own Herradura Double Barrel Reposado.
"Finally what has happened is they gave me a chance to go and pick out my own Herradura Double Barrel Reposado selection," said Smith. "I go almost every year. So, I went down to Guadalajara and I had my own tasting to pick out my own selection.
“Emmitt has been a great partner of Tequila Herradura’s for many years,” said Jennifer Simmonds, Senior Brand Manager - Tequila Herradura. “We are extremely excited that Emmitt took the time at our Casa to pick one of our Double Barrel Reposado’s as part of our by-the-barrel program, which is a one-of-a-kind tequila he named #22 that will be for sale at select retailers.”
Emmitt Smith’s #22 Herradura Double Barrel Reposado will be placed in select stores this May.
