'There's smoke to that fire' | Derrick Henry's recent home purchase has Dallas Cowboys rumor mill churning

The free agent running back was recently sold a home in Dallas, according to a realtor's social media post. Henry is known to train in Dallas in the offseason, too.

DALLAS — Derrick Henry just bought a home in Dallas, according to realtor Leston Eustache's Instagram page.

Could the free agent running back's next inked deal be a contract with the Dallas Cowboys

The social media post has had the Cowboys free agency rumor mill churning with the fan base's undivided attention since it was posted Thursday.

Ezekiel Elliott left the Cowboys in 2023, and Elliott's successor, Tony Pollard, is also on the free agent market. Running back is one of Dallas' top positions to address in the offseason, and Henry's recent purchase, combined with his connection to Dallas, makes a perfect fit on paper.

Henry already owned a home in the Dallas area and has trained here in the offseason even when he played for the Tennessee Titans. So, the home purchase on its own could certainly mean nothing significant.

Dallas radio host Jeff Cavanaugh, of 97.1 The Freak, seems to think there is smoke to this fire, however.

"This is just stuff that I'm hearing. Again, I'm not a beat writer. I don't go chasing it. But sometimes you stumble upon things," Cavanaugh said. Once upon a time I told everyone that Zack Martin was a top-30 visit for the Cowboys because I found that out . . . With the way the running back market is now and with Henry checking every box of why most NFL teams will be afraid of him, you know there is something to telling a Jones, 'right, but it's Derrick Henry.'"

The first chance that the Dallas Cowboys will have to address their needs from outside the organization begins on March 13.

However, the Cowboys can legally tamper with free agents and agree to deals as early as March 11, but nothing becomes official until two days later.

As of now, the Cowboys have three running backs signed: Deuce Vaughn, Hunter Luepke, and Malik Davis. Bringing back Pollard is an option the Cowboys could consider, or if you want to lean into the Henry rumors, Dallas could make a huge splash in the running back market. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Friday that "the door is not completely closed" on a return to the Titans, but said he was "unlikely to return to the Tennessee."

After all, "King Henry" does have a home for his throne in DFW.
