DALLAS — Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland is expected to miss six to eight weeks after he has surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot, according to reports.
Dallas Cowboys reporter Nick Harris broke the news Saturday, hours before the team's preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero also reported the news on X Saturday afternoon.
A front office source confirmed the injury with WFAA's Mike Leslie.
The Cowboys also posted the following statement about Bland's injury on their website:
"DaRon Bland experienced foot discomfort on Wednesday of last week during training camp in Oxnard. Subsequent imaging revealed a stress fracture in his foot. He will undergo surgery to repair the injury and is currently projected to be out for 6-8 weeks."
Bland's absence is a crucial loss for the Cowboys defensive back room, especially with fellow cornerback Trevon Diggs coming back from an ACL injury that forced him to miss most of the 2023 season. Diggs has been in practice, but seen limited reps, per the Cowboys website.
The other cornerbacks on the roster are Diggs, Jourdan Lewis, Andrew Booth, Caelen Carson and Eric Scott, Kemon Hall, Josh DeBerry, Josh Butler, and C.J. Goodwin.
Hall, DeBerry, Butler and Goodwin mainly play on special teams, however.
