DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly bolstering their defensive line with two new additions.
Multiple reports Wednesday night and Thursday morning had the Cowboys trading for Giants defensive tackle Jordan Phillips and signing free agent defensive end Carl Lawson.
NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, who's frequently reported on Cowboys news and transactions in recent years, cited sources on both moves, which will bring a veteran presence to the trenches for Dallas.
Phillips is a nine-year vet who spent the last two seasons with Buffalo before joining the Giants in the offseason. Cowboys writer Nick Harris reported that Dallas also got a 2026 seventh-round pick from New York, in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
Lawson is a six-year vet who played the last two seasons with the New York Jets. He's racked up 27 sacks in his career. Details on how much he's signing for in Dallas weren't immediately available Wednesday.
The Cowboys still haven't made the two biggest potential signings yet: New deals for quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, both of whom are expected to land lucrative extensions at some point.
The Cowboys remain in training camp in Oxnard, Calif., until Aug. 21, when they'll head back home to Texas. Dallas opens the regular season Sept. 8 against the Cleveland Browns on the road.
