SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Cowboys running back Tony Pollard was ruled out of the game with an apparent leg injury against the San Francisco 49ers.
In Pollard's absence, Ezekiel Elliott was likely to get the bulk of the workload at running back.
But that also meant backup running back Malik Davis was set to get more touches as the next man up behind Elliott.
Here's what we know about Davis:
Davis is a rookie out of the University of Florida, where he went undrafted.
After signing with the Cowboys, he made the club's active roster and played in 12 games during the regular season, rushing for 161 yards on 38 carries. He scored one touchdown.
He also caught six balls for 63 yards this year.
Davis did not have a carry or reception in the Cowboys' Wild Card playoff win at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
