DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboys played the New York Giants in primetime Thursday night, and aside from the action on the field, fans likely noticed a new fashion piece on the sideline. Specifically, on Mike McCarthy's head.

The Cowboys coach debuted a multi-color plaid team hat for the first time this season. McCarthy and his staff previously have worn the NFL-issue team rope hats.

The plaid is a unique look, for sure, but it's for a good cause. The NFL each season rolls out a line of "Crucial Catch" apparel in support of cancer research and detection. The plaid hat is actually an overlay of the various ribbon colors in support of each type of cancer.

The Cowboys' Crucial Catch hat costs $38.99 (and is available on the NFL Shop website here). The league doesn't profit from the Crucial Catch apparel sales. All proceeds are awarded to the American Cancer Society through the NFL Foundation.
