ARLINGTON, Texas — Despite the Dallas Cowboys suffering their worst loss at AT&T Stadium since it opened in 2009 to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Owner Jerry Jones said he is not considering a coaching change.
"I haven't even considered that," Jones said when asked. "I'm not considering that."
Jones said he didn't totally blame the 47-9 loss on Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy.
"The players will tell you they had something to do with it, too," Jones said. "His other part of the staff will tell you, and the owner sure will tell you he had something to do with it.”
Jones called this loss, which happened on Jones' 82nd birthday, "very concerning" and "very humbling."
“I saw a very physical bunch out there having a lot of fun at our expense," Jones said. "We won't forget it. We saw how we would like to be."
McCarthy said during the post-game press conference that he didn't do a good job during the game.
"Red zone and third down was a huge issue today," McCarthy said. "We gotta be better there situationally."
McCarthy cited the team's low turnover ratio during the game as one of the reasons for the loss.
"If you give up the damn ball five times and you're not taking it away, you're not gonna win the game," he said.
Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott said during the press conference that improving starts with practice.
“It takes everybody looking in the mirror and saying, 'How can I improve myself? How can we get better and help this team?'" Prescott said.
The Cowboys have a bye week next week. They will next play the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 27 at Levi's Stadium.
