DALLAS — Few things in sports can get the rumor mill churning like a Dallas Cowboys coaching search, even when the current coach still has a job.
What will Jerry Jones do next? That question alone provides enough fodder for sports talk shows. Sprinkle in a little speculation about Deion Sanders, and then throw Michael Irvin into the mix, and you're cooking.
Which brings us to Tuesday morning, when Irvin took to X and shared some behind-the-scenes on his recent activity.
Irvin said he met with the Cowboys owner Jones on Friday night at the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight, and then spent Saturday with Sanders, who was coaching the Colorado Buffaloes to another win.
Then, Irvin said, he spent Sunday "with the lord PRAYING for ???? ????? (GUESS WHAT)."
OK, we'll guess: Irvin is angling for Deion to be the next Cowboys' coach, a theory that's already making the rounds on the talk shows.
After watching the Cowboys take another one on the chin Monday night against the Texans, Irvin declared, "I must work harder!!!!!"
As of last week, the latest betting odds on the Cowboys' next coach had Sanders at +1000, well behind the favorite in Mike Vrabel (+300). The list on BetOnline.ag also included Irvin at +10000.
