LOS ANGELES — The Cowboys and the Rams are tied at halftime, 6-6.

Special teams have accounted for all of the scoring so far. Both Dallas’ Brandon Aubrey and LA’s Joshua Karty went 2-for-2 on field goal attempts in the first half.

Defensively, the Cowboys kept the Rams out of the endzone thanks to two interceptions and allowing only one explosive play on the first drive of the game, a 30-yard completion to Texas alum, Jordan Whittington.

Caelen Carson had an excellent showing in the first half. After impressing all of camp, his skills translated well to game-play. The rookie cornerback finished with four tackles in the first half, including three solo tackles.

Demarvion Overshown appeared to pick up right where he left off last August. Individually, he made some very impressive stops. The run defense overall allowed 3.7 yards per carry on the ground in the first half.

But the first-half star that shined brightest: Markquese Bell.

He earned the first interception of the season for the Cowboys after picking off Stetson Bennett in the first quarter. He leads the team in tackles with nine so far in the game. Eric Scott also picked off Bennett right before half.

Offensively, we got our first extended look at quarterback Trey Lance.

Cooper Rush got the start, as expected for the Cowboys. After two straight handoffs to Rico Dowdle on the first offensive drive, Rush connected with Jalen Cropper for a 43-yard completion down the left sideline.

While they couldn't find the endzone on that drive, Rush finished 2-for-3 for 44 yards.

Once Lance entered the game, he looked as he did throughout training camp: good at times and struggling at times. On his first full drive, he took the Cowboys down to the 3-yard line.

Facing a 4th and 1 from the 3, Trey Lance overthrew Jalen Cropper in the endzone. He finished his first drive 3-for-6 for 16 yards. Lance finished the first half 8-of-17 for a 47% completion rate. There were several times when the young quarterback had open receivers but wasn’t able to connect.

As far as targets go, the Cowboys targeted seven different receivers. Jalen Moreno-Cropper led the way with four receptions on six targets.

As far as injury updates: offensive tackle Chuma Edoga has a foot injury and has been ruled out.
