ARLINGTON, Texas — Brandon Aubrey made four field goals totaling 214 yards Sunday night in the Cowboys' 33-13 win against the Philadelphia Eagles.
And he set an NFL record along the way.
Aubrey, a rookie, became the first kicker in NFL history to make two field goals of at least 59 yards in a single game. He drilled a 60-yarder in the first half, then made a 59-yarder in the second half. Aubrey surpassed Greg Zuerlein and Harrison Butker, who each had a pair from at least 58 in the same game.
He followed those two field goals with two more perfect attempts, from 45 and 50 yards.
That's a grand total of 214 yards worth of field goals in a single game. But it also pushed Aubrey's season mark to 30-for-30, a perfect mark for a rookie who never kicked in college and was working as a software engineer just two years ago. Aubrey's 30 consecutive field goals to start his career are also an NFL record.
His lone miscues this season have been on extra points, missing three.
Aubrey on Sunday night helped keep the Eagles at bay, while they tried to mount a comeback in the second half. But Dallas controlled the game from the start, jumping out to a 24-6 halftime lead. Philadelphia returned a Dak Prescott fumble for a touchdown in the third quarter, but Aubrey's three field goals - and Dallas' stout defense - put the game away.
The Cowboys, who now are atop the NFC East with the win, play on the road next Sunday at the Buffalo Bills, a game set for 3:25 p.m.
