ARLINGTON, Texas — Dallas Cowboys Tight End Jake Ferguson teamed up with USAA, the City of Arlington, the fire department and the American Red Cross to educate the community on how to stay safe ahead of Thanksgiving.

This partnership came together for the Huddle Up for Home Fire Prevention and Safety event, which is a campaign by USAA that educates people on how to avoid home fires.

The third-year TE came prepared and suited up in full fire gear, fit with his own personalized protective fireman hat.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, local fire departments respond to over 1.5 million fires each year and data shows a significant increase around Thanksgiving.

To help educate, Ferguson assisted the Arlington Fire Department in demonstrating the dangers of and how to put out a turkey fryer fire.

But don't worry -- this demonstration was done in a controlled environment.

Check out the video on his Instagram page below:

In addition to the demonstration, the Cowboys' TE took time to meet with first responders and local military guests in attendance.

Now, if only the figurative fires on the field could be doused as well. But we can talk about that in a different article.
