Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott expected to miss multiple weeks with injury

A bad season just got worse for the Cowboys.

DALLAS — Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to miss several weeks with a hamstring injury, according to multiple reports Monday.

The Cowboys signal-caller injured his hamstring during Sunday's loss against the Atlanta Falcons and had to leave the game early. He also suffered from a hand injury during the Falcons game.

But it appears the hamstring was the more significant of the two injuries.

WFAA's Ed Werder confirmed reports that Prescott is expected to miss multiple games as result of the hamstring.

MRI results revealed a "multi-week injury," according to Werder. Receiver CeeDee Lamb's shoulder injury had "more encouraging" imaging results, according to Werder, and he may not have to miss any games, pending the results of treatment this week.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter and the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero both reported Monday afternoon that Prescott is expected to miss several weeks with the injury.

Schefter reported that Prescott was seeking a second opinion "to confirm treatment options."

The 3-5 Cowboys will now turn to backup quarterback Cooper Rush in Prescott's absence. Rush played in the second half Sunday, replacing Prescott and throwing for 115 yards and a touchdown.

The Cowboys host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at 3:25 p.m. at AT&T Stadium.
