The Dallas Cowboys plan to hold a portion of their 2016 training camp at their brand new facility in Frisco, The Star.
According to reports out of the NFL's annual meetings in Boca Raton, Florida, the Cowboys will report to camp on July 28 in Oxnard, Calif. They'll spend three weeks in California, during which time they'll play the Los Angeles Rams in their first preseason game.
The Cowboys plan to break camp on August 19, and return home to Texas. They'll play their home opener for the preseason on August 20.
At that point, the plan is for the Cowboys to continue their training camp schedule in Frisco. Dallas will play a third preseason game on the road before finishing the preseason against the Texans at AT&T Stadium.
Fans will be allowed to attend training camp at The Star -- one of the major differences between the new facility and the Cowboys old home of Valley Ranch. Dallas has always done training camp away from Valley Ranch, due to the lack of infrastructure to handle fans watching practice.
The plan has been for the The Star to open during the summer of 2016. Construction continues in Frisco, and will likely continue right up until the opening.
The Star in Frisco will sit on 20 acres of land at the corner of Warren Parkway and Dallas North Tollway. It is estimated to cost more than $1 billion, once completed.
