ARLINGTON, Texas — A Cowboys fan-favorite went down with a devastating injury during their Thanksgiving Day game against the New York Giants.
Dallas safety Juanyeh Thomas had to be carted off the field following a knee injury at the start of the second quarter. During a kickoff return, Thomas got tangled up with Giants kick returner Eric Gray. He tried to stand after the play, but his pain was visible and he had to be carted off the field.
Thomas, who returned an onside kick for a touchdown in Sunday's game against the Commanders, was one of just four healthy players at the safety position for Dallas. With Trevon Diggs and Markquese Bell still out, the Cowboys will rely on Malik Hooker, Donovan Wilson and Israel Mukuamu.
Thomas started with the Cowboys in 2022 after going undrafted out of Georgia Tech. Since, he's become a key player for Dallas' special teams.
