Aggies QB on desire to beat Texas: 'That’s a given, that’s gonna happen’

The bitter rivals will face each other in their final regular season game, on Nov. 30, for the first time in 13 years after the Aggies left the Big 12 for the SEC.

TEXAS, USA — College football could not get here any faster nor the return of one of the game's most heated rivalries: Texas versus Texas A&M.

The bitter rivals will face each other in their final regular season game, on Nov. 30, for the first time in 13 years after the Aggies left the Big 12 for the SEC in 2011. The fan excitement surrounding the game is wholly evident in its ticket prices. It is the most expensive ticket for the entire college football season, according to 247Sports.

To add even more fuel to the fire, Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman spoke to the media Tuesday about his burning desire to take down the Longhorns in the first rematch in a decade-plus.

“I mean I’ve always wanted to beat Texas,” Weigman said. “That’s a given. I don’t know if it was more after that, but yeah that’s a given, that’s gonna happen.”

The Nov. 30 matchup is meeting No. 119 between the Longhorns and Aggies. Texas leads the all-time series, 76-37-5, including a win in the last meeting 13 years ago. A last-second field goal by now-Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker sealed the win for UT.

The Aggies usher in a new era in 2024 under first-year head coach Mike Elko, who came over from Duke after Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher. Elko looks to lead an Aggie team to its first-ever College Football Playoff, which is now more feasible given the expansion from four teams to 12.

The Longhorns enter 2024 fresh off their first-ever appearance in the CFP and return Heisman hopeful QB Quinn Ewers. Many experts have Texas selected to make the SEC title game in their first season after departing from the Big 12. Experts also list UT as a heavy favorite to make the 12-team playoff.

Texas A&M, as currently projected, is on the outside looking in at the 12-team playoff. November 30 will certainly have a lot on the line, in terms of both bragging rights as well as postseason implications.
