DALLAS — SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings has been tabbed as one of the 16 semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien Award, which is given annually to the NCAA's best quarterback.

Through the 2024 season, the sophomore QB has thrown for 1,900 yards and 12 touchdowns, all while leading the Mustangs to an 8-1 overall record and a perfect 5-0 in conference play.

With three regular-season games left on their schedule, Jennings and the Mustangs seem beyond poised to reach the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship game and possibly even wiggle their way into the College Football Playoff.

The toughest tests are yet to come, but so far -- Jennings has been up for the challenge.

Other quarterbacks listed as finalists for the award include Texas' Quinn Ewers, Oregon's Dillon Gabriel, Miami's Cam Ward, Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart and many more.

Now, the award's three finalists will be selected based on voting from the Davey O'Brien National Selection Committee and bonus ballots awarded from the second round of the Davey O'Brien Fan Vote.

The fan vote will take place on Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). The top five vote receivers on each platform will get bonus committee member ballots which will be added to the votes cast by the National Selection Committee, according to a press release from SMU.

This round will last from Tuesday, Nov. 12 through Friday, Nov. 22. Finalists will be announced on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
