North Texan Scottie Scheffler hints at Louisville arrest in picking Miami Hurricanes on College GameDay

Scheffler, a Masters champion, was arrested while heading to his tee time at the PGA Championship back in May. The charges against him were dropped.

AUSTIN, Texas — Scottie Scheffler's got jokes, y'all.

Scheffler, a Dallas native, is an alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin and was the guest picker for ESPN's flagship college football show, College GameDay, which was broadcasting from the Forty Acres ahead of UT-Georgia.

As the panel was making their picks for the college football slate, the Miami vs. Louisville game came up and the Masters champion was not afraid give a little joke while giving his pick.

“Not to bring anything personal into this with Louisville, great city, love the people… but Miami is gonna smoke them,” Scheffler said.

Back in May, Scheffler was arrested on assault and reckless driving charges during a reported misunderstanding over traffic flow outside of the PGA Championship in Louisville. A large portion of the encounter was caught on camera that morning by ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, whose reporting went viral.

He was released in time to make his tee time for the second round and shot 66 to get into contention. He finished the week tied for eighth.

Criminal charges were dismissed on May 29, and Scheffler said his attorney told him on May 24 that dropping the charges had become a formality because "we had a lot of evidence on our side."

Scheffler said at the time his only other run-in with the law had been a couple of speeding tickets.

Scheffler also later won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Scheffler's quip on College GameDay got a chuckle from the rest of the panel.
