BATON ROUGE, La. — Shortly after No. 7 LSU soundly defeated visiting Louisiana-Lafayette, 83-53, on Sunday, Tigers women's basketball head coach Kim Mulkey confirmed that guard Kateri Poole was not a part of the team.
"She's no longer with us," Mulkey told media before stating that Poole would not be back with the team. The third-year Tigers head coach, who guided LSU to its first national championship in program history last season, did not disclose the reason for Poole's dismissal.
Also following the game, LSU star forward Angel Reese, who wears jersey No. 10, posted a photo of herself and Poole on social media with a caption reading, "Forever my dawg! You know I love you & 10 behind you! @KatiePoole."
Like Poole's situation, Mulkey remained tight-lipped as to the exact reason for Reese's absence.
LSU (10-1) hosts McNeese State (3-6) on Tuesday night.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
