MONROE, La. — General Booty, a former three-star quarterback recruit from Allen High School who is as famous for his name as he is his on-field performance, has been named the starting quarterback for the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks, according to a report from 247Sports.
Booty originally committed to Tyler Junior College out of high school, where he started all 12 games his freshman year and led the team to a 7-5 record. He then transferred to Oklahoma and appeared in two games over two seasons (TCU in 2022 and Arkansas State in 2023) with the Sooners.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Booty transferred to Louisiana-Monroe, where he has apparently won the starting job for the Warhawks, according to 247Sports writer Matt Zenitz.
In Norman, Booty backed up Dillon Gabriel, who announced a transfer to the Oregon Ducks at the end of last season. Meanwhile, sophomore QB Jackson Arnold -- a consensus five-star and top 25 national recruit from Guyer High School in Denton, Texas -- is set to be the starter for the Oklahoma Sooners this season.
Booty will now look to get things ripe, right and tight in Monroe, where he joins a Warhawks team that went 2-10 last season. ULM actually won its first two games against Army and Lamar University (FCS) in 2023 , only to then lose 10 games in a row.
The Warhawks will open the 2024 season against Jackson State, before hosting UAB and then going on the road to play the Texas Longhorns. After that non-conference slate, Booty and the boys will face their Sun Belt Conference opponents.
Even with Booty at the helm, ULM is currently predicted to finish last in the SBC West Division, according to the preseason coaches poll.
