DALLAS — In the third quarter of game five of the NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks are down 26 points to the Boston Celtics.
Facing elimination, Dallas is looking to come back, but it will be a battle.
What is the largest comeback in NBA Finals history?
The largest comeback in NBA Finals history was pulled off by the 2008 Boston Celtics. In game four of the 2009 Finals, the Boston Celtics were down 24 points in the second quarter to Kobe Bryant and the rival Los Angeles Lakers.
The Celtics cut that lead down to 18 points by the half, and ended up outscoring the Lakers by 16 in the third quarter.
Two minutes into the fourth, the Celtics tied it all up at 73, but didn't end up holding the lead until there were just four minutes left.
Eventually, Boston came back and won it 97-91. Ultimately, they ended up winning the 2008 NBA Finals on June 17.
If the Mavericks come back, they would be pulling off the largest comeback in the history of the NBA Finals.
