DALLAS — Ahead of Game 3 of the NBA Finals, there are injuries to key players worth keeping an eye on.
For Dallas, star guard Luka Doncic has been battling a knee injury, a foot injury and most recently a thoracic contusion, which had Doncic listed as questionable. On Tuesday, Doncic was upgraded to probable and his knee and foot injuries were taken off the injury report for the first time in weeks.
Doncic also reportedly was given a painkilling shot for it and is expected to have another for Game 3, according to reports.
“I feel good," Doncic told reporters Tuesday. "I don’t want to give any more details, but I feel good.”
For Boston, all eyes are on Kristaps Porzingis.
The Celtics big man is dealing with a "serious injury," head coach Joe Mazzulla said on Tuesday.
Porzingis suffered a torn medial retinaculum, which allowed dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon in his left leg, according to a report from NBA Insider Shams Charania. The injury occurred in the waning moments of the third quarter in Game 2 on Sunday, when Porzingis said he felt something after colliding knees with Mavs center Dereck Lively II.
Hours before tipoff, Charania and ESPN's Tim Bontemps both reported that Porzingis was out for Game 3.
