DALLAS — Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic was named Wednesday night to the 2023-24 Kia All-NBA First Team, marking the fifth straight year he has garnered All-NBA First Team honors.
Doncic also surpassed Dirk Nowitzki with the most All-NBA First Team selections in franchise history (4).
Doncic averaged a league-high (and career-high) 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds (15th in the NBA), a career-high 9.8 assists (second in the NBA), a career-high 1.41 steals (eighth in the NBA) and 37.5 minutes per game (third in the NBA) in 70 games (all starts). Doncic is the first player in NBA history to average at least 33.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists for a season.
The 6-foot, 7-inch Slovenian finished third in the MVP voting, falling behind Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The announcement came minutes before the Mavericks tipped off Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves, led by Anthony Edwards, who made All-NBA Second Team.
This is the Mavericks second Western Conference Finals appearance in three years. The Mavs lost to the eventual NBA Champion Golden State Warriors in 2022 in five games.
