Report: Mavs' Kyrie Irving to sign his father as first signature athlete for his shoe line

Kyrie's father played for Boston University and then professionally in Australia.

DALLAS — In addition to airing every game of the 2024 NBA Finals on our station, WFAA is also hosting a special presentation called "The Pregame" before each and every matchup in the series. Head here for more information.

In a historic move, Dallas Mavericks' star Kyrie Irving is set to sign his father, Dederick Irving as the first signature athlete for his ANTA shoe line, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

In July 2023, Kyrie signed a five-year deal with sportswear company ANTA, where they collaborated to make the ANTA KAI 1 in several colorways.

By signing his dad to his shoe line, Kyrie marks the first person to do so in pro sports, according to the report.

Drederick Irving played at Boston University for his college days, later playing in Australia professionally.

According to the report, the Drederick Irving will be released in Foot Locker stores in September.

This news comes shortly after Kyrie and the Dallas Mavericks secured the Western Conference Finals Championship on Thursday, May 30.

Kyrie is now set to face his former team, the Boston Celtics, in the 2024 NBA Finals.
