'Big dog' | NBA Twitter makes meme out of Mavs fans who called Kevin Durant 'a b*tch' before the game

In footage of the incident captured by WFAA, Durant can be seen stopping on a dime mid-jog to turn around, walk to the edge of the court and approach the fans.

DALLAS β€” The most viral moment of the night on "NBA Twitter" or "Sports Twitter" (now known as X) between the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns came from WFAA's Jonah Javad, before the game even tipped off.

Javad caught the moment Suns star Kevin Durant, along with his teammates, were running on to the court for pre-game warmups, when a pair of Mavs fans shouted Durant was "a b*itch." Durant immediately stopped on a dime mid-jog, walked to the edge of the court and approached the fans who shouted at him.

In an odd turn of events, one of the fans held out her hand to Durant to greet him, as if they didn't just shout an expletive at him, attempting exchange pleasantries with the NBA superstar. Needless to say, Durant left her hanging and their faces quickly turned from gleeful and upbeat to concerned and apologetic.

Durant spoke with the pair for a few moments, but it seems the final straw of their conversation came when the man launched into an explanation about how he "hosts a sports podcast."

The video went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter, garnering millions of views overnight. Almost immediately, the fans were made into Internet memes. Most of them centered around two things: One calling the woman the new "Big Dog" meme, referring to the Tiger Woods meme where he gave his son's caddie a handshake and calls him "Big Dog." The other centers around how man mentioning his sports podcast seemed to be the final straw for Durant before bailing on the conversation.

Here are some of those reactions on X:

In a second video also captured by Javad, Durant can be seen returning to where the fans were standing, and interrupting American Airlines Center security – keeping them from kicking the fans out from the game.

Prior to returning once again to his teammates, Durant offered the fans a bit of advice: "Don't act like [that]. You're a grownup."

Dallas went on to beat Phoenix, 123-113. Durant scored 23 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished one assist.
