DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks unveiled its 2024-25 City Edition uniform Thursday morning – dubbed the Trinity River Blues: Encore Collection.
Here is the excerpt from the Mavericks detailing the inspiration behind the uniform:
"North Texas is not only one of the birthplaces of American Blues music, but it has also been essential to the genre’s evolution throughout two centuries. After local bluesman Blind Lemon Jefferson helped create the style in the early 20th century, Dallas icon T-Bone Walker introduced the electric guitar and rock ‘n’ roll showmanship to the Blues in the 1930s and 40s. During the ensuing decades, Dallas-Ft. Worth legends, including Freddie King, Steve Miller, ZZ Hill, Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan, shaped the arc of the Blues. Today, their influence reverberates not only in the Blues, but also in Rock, Country and R&B. In fact, at its roots, much of modern music started right here."
The Mavs showcased this year's white City Edition uniform in a video collaboration with Fort Worth musician Leon Bridges.
"I'm so excited to be running it back for an encore with the Mavs City Edition, continuing the story of Dallas-Ft. Worth's deep connection to Rhythm and Blues,” said Bridges. “The Mavs and Nike have given me a unique opportunity to represent the musicians that have led the way and connect all of us to the rich history of music in North Texas. Let's bring a title home!"
