DALLAS — Kemba Walker's stay with the Dallas Mavericks wasn't long.

The franchise on Friday announced it has waived the veteran guard, who signed with Dallas on Nov. 29.

Walker played in nine games for the Mavericks, including a lone start against Cleveland on Dec. 17, when he dropped a season-high 32 points with five rebounds and seven assists.

NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the Mavericks released Walker before his contract became guaranteed for the rest of the season on Saturday.

Walker was brought on as another scoring option for the Mavs. At his peak, Walker was an elite scorer, averaging 25.6 points per game with the Hornets in 2018-19, when he was a perennial All-Star.

But injuries have plagued Walker, and he's played just 89 games over the last three seasons.

The Mavericks lost 124-95 to Boston at home Thursday night, snapping a seven-game winning streak.

Dallas hosts the Pelicans at home Saturday night.
