Here's how to rescan your TV so you can watch Dallas Mavericks games on KFAA 29 this season

Watching the Mavs with an antenna this season? Here's how to make sure you're receiving KFAA 29, the new local broadcast partner of the Mavs.

DALLAS — Ready for Dallas Mavericks basketball?

This season, Mavericks fans will be able to watch every locally-broadcast game on the schedule -- at least 70 in all -- free of charge on either WFAA (Ch. 8) or KFAA (Ch. 29).

In fact, KFAA -- formerly known as KMPX -- will carry every non-national Mavericks game with season, with select games also simulcast on WFAA. And even if you don't have a cable provider or streaming service that offers KFAA, you'll still be able to watch the channel free of charge by using an antenna.

Here's everything you need to know about watching the Mavericks this season through WFAA and KFAA, including how to rescan your TV to get the clearest picture possible:

How can I watch KFAA on my cable provider or streaming service?

As of Monday, October 21, KFAA (Ch. 29) is available on the following providers in Dallas-Fort Worth:

  • AT&T U-verse TV
  • Charter Spectrum
  • DIRECTV
  • DISH
  • Frontier Fiber (Keller)
  • GEUS
  • Grande Communications/Astound Broadband
  • OneSource Communications
  • Optimum

How can I watch KFAA for free via antenna?

KFAA (Ch. 29) is available for free if your TV has antenna capabilities or is equipped with an antenna. An HD antenna can be purchased via Amazon, Best Buy and other retailers. They typically range in price from $20-$60. You can find reviews for the best TV antennas on the market on The New York Times, CNET, Popular Mechanics, and Consumer Product Testing.

Once attached to your television, setting it up is a simple, three-step process.

  • Push the “menu” or “input” button on your remote.
  • Go to the “channel” or “TV” or “setup” menu option
  • Select “scan” or “auto-scan.”

Also keep in mind the placement of your antenna: Placing it closer to a window should help improve reception if you're having issues getting a signal.
