DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks have expressed interest in drafting Bronny James, the son of Lebron James, with the 58th pick in the NBA Draft, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
Still, in a draft where few players stick out as future stars, it's unlikely James will still be on the board with the second-to-last pick.
"All current indications suggest that LeBron James' 19-year-old son will be selected earlier in the second round before Dallas makes the last pick in the draft," Stein wrote in a post Saturday.
The USC freshman declared for the NBA Draft in April. James spent just one season at USC, which was shortened by a recovery from cardiac arrest.
So far, Bronny James has worked out for two teams: the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns.
According to Stein, James' agent, Rich Paul, says it's "unlikely" the draft prospect will work out for Dallas, or any other teams, ahead of the NBA Draft June 16.
