Mavericks vs. Warriors game postponed following Dejan Milojević's death, NBA confirms

The Warriors assistant coach from Serbia died Wednesday from a heart attack. The Warriors did not play their game against Utah in Salt Lake City.

SAN FRANCISCO — Friday's game between the Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors has been postponed as the Warriors mourn the death of assistant coach Dejan Milojević.

Milojević died after being hospitalized for a heart attack. He was 46 years old.

The NBA postponed Golden State’s game that was to be played at Utah on Wednesday night. A rescheduled date was not immediately announced.

Golden State was scheduled to face the Mavericks on Friday as part of Dallas' two-game road trip.

Before the game's confirmed postponement, Kidd told the media after the Mavericks' 127-110 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers that the status of Friday's game against Golden State was still up in the air.

"We are going to know tomorrow morning whether or not we are playing," Kidd said. "We'll go home if we are not playing. There would be no need to fly to San Francisco."

Milojević was in his third season with the Warriors. He previously coached in Serbia — where he once worked with a young Jokic before the now-Denver star came to the United States.

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic posted a tribute to his X account on Wednesday in reaction to the news of his passing.

"Pocivaj u miru deki!," Doncic said on X. Doncic's tweet translates to "Rest in peace bro!"

Before joining the Warriors, Milojević had prior NBA experience through Summer League assistant-coach stints with Atlanta, San Antonio and Houston.
