'Dallas 'cause I'm a Texan': Drake drops huge bet on Mavs to win NBA Finals

Drake also placed a $500,000 bet on the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup Final over the Florida Panthers.

DALLAS — In addition to airing every game of the 2024 NBA Finals on our station, WFAA is also hosting a special presentation called "The Pregame" before each and every matchup in the series. Head here for more information.

Drake is riding with the Mavericks.

The rap star posted on Instagram that he dropped a $500,000 bet on Dallas to win the NBA Finals over the Boston Celtics.

The Mavs are underdogs across the board against the Celtics, who dominated the Eastern Conference this season. Drake placed his bet through the sportsbook Stake at +275 odds.

If the Mavericks win, he'll stand to collect $1,375,000.

"Dallas 'cause I'm a Texan," Drake said in the caption of his post.

Drake recently purchased a home in the Houston area after announcing he had picked Texas as "the right place" for him to live.

"I finally, finally after all these years, found me a place in Houston, Texas," he told the crowd during a Houston show last September. "So, y'all will be seeing me around."

Now we're not going to get into the specifics of Drake's betting track record, or what seems to happen just about every time he decides to throw his support behind a team. No, we'll just focus on 2019, when his hometown Toronto Raptors won it all.

If Texas is his new hometown, then, well, everything is good.

Drake also placed a $500,000 bet on the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup Final over the Florida Panthers.

The Mavs play the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night. The game starts on WFAA at 7:30 p.m. Central Time. Also be sure to check out WFAA's "The Pregame" show before the game.
