BOSTON — In addition to airing every game of the 2024 NBA Finals on our station, WFAA is also hosting a special presentation called "The Pregame" before every matchup in the series. Head here for more information.
Josh Pereira has his hands full this week as the NBA Finals roll through his hometown of Boston. He's also a huge Boston Celtics fan and is excited for the city as his team takes on the Dallas Mavericks.
"We are the city of titles," Periera said.
Pereira, a proud Brazillian-American, is a long-time barber and owner of Title City Barbers. He has five locations throughout Boston. His clients aren't just everyday people, but also high-profile athletes.
"Us barbers, we're artists in the same way," he said. "I cut a couple guys from the [Celtics] team, couple of the staff members," he told WFAA.
His barber shop cuts players Jaden Springer, Neemias Queta and Sam Hauser. Pereira has also cut Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. But even though he bleeds green, that doesn't mean he discriminates who he cuts. Before Game 1 Josh did a house-call, or in this case a hotel-call, for Dallas Maverick Jaden Hardy.
"I already had the Dallas Mavericks cape. Most of the guys, they like to stay crispy," Pereira said, laughing.
Pereira tells WFAA he doesn't get nervous cutting someone who is high-profile. He just treats that haircut like he does any haircut. Obviously, he's rooting for the Boston Celtics to win. He has them winning in five games. He says Boston winning another title helps them live up to that name of "Title City."
