ARLINGTON, Texas — Three Texas Rangers have been awarded 2023 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards for each of their positions in the American League.
Catcher Jonah Heim, rightfielder Adolis Garcia and first baseman Nathaniel Lowe were the three named -- all first-time winners. Rawlings Gold Gloves are presented each year for defensive excellence.
This is the first time the Texas Rangers have had three individual Gold Glove Award winners in a single season, having had two winners in the past six years combined -- both rightfielder Joey Gallo and third baseman Isiah Kiner-Falefa winning in 2020.The Rangers have now had 17 winners in team history with the addition of this year's three winners.
Two additional Rangers were finalists but not selected as winners: shortstop Corey Seager and second baseman Marcus Semien.
Heim is just the third catcher for the Rangers to win the award. Lowe is the fourth Ranger to win the award at first base. And Garcia is a first-time winner and the fourth outfielder selected from the Rangers to win the award.
All of this year's Golden Glove Award winners will be honored on Friday, Nov. 10, at a ceremony in New York City.
