DALLAS — The Texas Rangers went 1-0 in November, and it just so happened that one win was a rather large one: The Game 5 victory over the Diamondbacks to win the World Series.
On the exact opposite end of the sports spectrum, the San Antonio Spurs also won a game in November.
A game.
As in, one game.
The difference between the Rangers' and Spurs' similar level of success in November -- aside from the whole world championship thing -- is that the Rangers haven't played a game since their last win.
The Spurs, on the contrary, have played 15 games since their last win on Nov. 2.
And they have lost all 15.
The Ticket's Bob Sturm pointed out this oddity on X on Wednesday night. And oddly enough, the Spurs aren't the first team to find themselves on the wrong end of a win comparison with the Rangers.
In fact, the Detroit Pistons are three wins behind the Rangers since their last victory. Detroit beat the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 28 but haven't won since, going 0-18. The Rangers won games on Oct. 30, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 since Detroit's losing streak began.
What does it all mean?
Well, there are apparently some bad teams in the NBA this year. And if nothing else, it's another chance to remind everyone: The Texas Rangers won the World Series, believe it or not.
In the words of the great Eric Nadel, you're (still) not dreaming, Rangers fans.
