DALLAS — The Texas Rangers are heading to the White House.

The team will join President Joe Biden on Thursday afternoon for a ceremony honoring their World Series win last season.

Pro and collegiate champions typically make a trip to the White House at some point after winning a title.

The Rangers' trip happens to coincide with their East Coast road trip, which starts Friday in New York against the Yankees. Texas will presumably finish up their home stand Wednesday against the Astros, head to Washington D.C. for the White House ceremony and then up to New York for a three-game series against the Yankees.

The Rangers' White House ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT.

Texas is struggling through a 53-59 season, including a series loss to the Boston Red Sox over the weekend. So Thursday's ceremony might be a welcome relief to reminisce on better days, when the Rangers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in the World Series last year. It was the club's first title in franchise history.

The Rangers aren't totally out of the picture this year. Texas trails the Seattle Mariners by 5.5 games in the American League West, and they get three chances at the second-place Astros, starting Monday.
