Thursday, March 28 marks the return of baseball to DFW as the World Series champion Texas Rangers open their season against the Chicago Cubs. It'll be a party on Opening Day, including a World Series banner drop, showoff of the new gold-trimmed jerseys and more!
The Rangers are going big for the national anthem, too, bringing in a big name in Texas country to do the honors.
Who is singing the national anthem at Texas Rangers' Opening Day?
Performing the Star Spangled Banner will be Texas country singer/songwriter Wade Bowen. The Waco native released his first album in 2002 and has been touring nationally for more than 20 years. His new album, Flyin will be released on May 10.
The national anthem is scheduled to start at 6:25 p.m.
When does Globe Life Field open?
Globe Life Field parking lots will open at 2 p.m. and ballpark gates will open at 3:30 p.m. on Opening Day. The Rangers encourage fans to arrive early on opening day.
When does Texas Rangers batting practice start?
Rangers’ batting practice begins at 3:30 p.m. followed by the Cubs at 4:30 p.m., and the pregame ceremonies are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Three-time Emmy Award winning vocal group The Texas Tenors will sing God Bless the U.S.A. during the seventh inning stretch.
