DALLAS — If Corey Seager hadn't burned Alex Bregman, Rangers fans' favorite moment from the World Series celebration Friday might have been when Bruce Bochy took to the mic, banged his hand on the podium, and let the crowd know: "I want to do this again."
Indeed, the Rangers, who were ahead of schedule in their rebuild this year, are already looking to the future and a chance at bringing another championship to North Texas.
The two franchise cornerstones, Seager and Marcus Semien, are under contract for the foreseeable future, and the Rangers are also aiming to get ace Jacob deGrom healthy again, perhaps in time for next postseason.
Then there are the young stars in Josh Jung and 21-year-old Evan Carter, and players like Adolis Garcia, Jonah Heim and Nathaniel Lowe have yet to hit free agency.
So how does the roster shake out heading into 2024?
Here's a look at who's under contract, at the moment (Nov. 6, for the record), and who's a free agent. We used the always-helpful Baseball Reference and Fangraphs for roster and contract details.
Texas Rangers players under contract for 2024
A few notes first: These are from the Rangers' roster at the end of the season. Prospects like Wyatt Langford could also make the team and have a big role in 2024, but they're not included on this list. Other prospects who got brief time in the majors, like Sam Huff and Jonathan Ornelas, are also not included here. Some players listed here, like Brett Martin, missed the 2023 season with injury. Lastly, reliever Matt Bush signed a minor-league deal with Texas during the season. It's unclear if that will carry into 2024.
