ARLINGTON, Texas — Olympic Gold medalist Hezly Rivera from Plano knows a thing or two about throwing herself in the air as a gymnast. Now, she’s coming home to throw the first pitch at Globe Life Field Wednesday when the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers take on the New York Yankees.

Rivera, 16, who trains at WOGA in Plano, was the youngest member of the 2024 U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team that competed in Paris. She helped U.S. Women’s Gymnastics qualify for the team final, where they won a gold medal, but didn’t compete in the Final.

Rivera’s gold medal is also expected to make an appearance at Globe Life Field.

She was also a 2024 Winter Cup balance beam champion and all-around & floor exercise bronze medalist. Rivera also earned the Junior U.S. national champion title and the Junior World silver medal on the floor exercise in 2023.

The last in a three-game series between the Texas Rangers and the AL-leading New York Yankees begins about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The Yankees lead the series 1-0 after beating the Rangers 8-4 Monday night ahead of game 2 Tuesday.
