Michael Young's fear of clowns almost got Elvis Andrus punched in the face

Former Texas Rangers infielder and current front office member Michael Young’s accomplishments were front and center Saturday night, as he was inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame.

What was also on display, though, was his admittedly irrational fear of clowns.

While Young was being paraded around the field in a pickup truck before Saturday’s game, Elvis Andrus popped up wearing a Jigsaw mask -- the creepy character from the Saw horror movie series.

That didn’t sit well with Young, who was “cocked and ready” to deliver a knockout blow. Watch the video below or here.

“The backstory is that I do have a severe distaste, distrust -- clowns are a bad thing, and you want nothing to do with them,” Young said with a laugh later in the Rangers’ broadcast booth. “It’s not the most rational thing in the world, but we just don’t jive very well.”

Young is the franchise leader in Games, At-Bats, Plate Appearances, Runs, Hits, Total Bases, Singles, Doubles, Triples, Sac Flies, and is in the Top 10 in just about every other category.

We now know he could be No. 1 all-time in Clown Hatred -- a stat that wasn’t officially recorded by WFAA Sports until Saturday.
