The Rangers advance to 1st World Series in over 10 years! And Texas has been there before... twice.

Texas' last World Series appearance is a painful memory for fans, but could the Rangers claim their first title in 2023?

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers are headed back to the World Series for the third time in franchise history!

The Rangers beat the Astros in Game 7 of the ALCS, and they'll face the Arizona Diamondbacks in this year's fall classic.

With the ALCS win, Texas will face it's first chance to hoist the title in over a decade. Twice before, the Rangers have played in the World Series.

When was the last time the Texas Rangers went to the World Series?

2011.

This is one most fans want to forget. Texas led this series 3-2 heading into Game 6 in St. Louis. The Rangers even led 7-5 heading into the bottom of the 9th inning in that game. Then, with two outs down, David Freese tied the ballgame with a two-RBI triple off the right field wall. Freese later walked off the game with a home run to center field.

The Cardinals went on to win the World Series in seven games.

How many World Series have the Rangers won?

Zero.

The Rangers have not yet won a World Series.

But the tea has made World Series appearances twice. They reached the fall classic most recently in 2011 (as mentioned above), and also did so the year prior in 2010.

In 2010, Texas lost to San Francisco in five games to a Giants team managed by none other than current Rangers manager Bruce Bochy. It was the first World Series of Bochy's career, and he would later win two more titles with San Francisco in 2012 and 2014.
