DALLAS — Before crowding Arlington streets for the Texas Rangers parade Friday, fans are crowding the stores. Sports businesses across the region have been flooded with fans buying their Rangers merchandise.
Rally House Old Town employees said the store has been steadier than normal. That may be the calm way to describe it.
“Let’s go Rangers,” yelled Texas Rangers fans inside the store Thursday.
The saying is ‘good things come to those who wait.’ Texas Rangers fan, Sam Finklea, has stayed consistent.
“Oh my gosh! I’m a day-oner,” said Finklea.
His dad introduced him to baseball.
“I started when my dad took me out to old Arlington ballpark. I watched the Rangers in 1972,” said Finklea.
Now 51 years later, the Texas Rangers are World Series champions.
“Unbelievable, this is surreal. This is crazy. I’m just ecstatic,” said Finklea.
Other fans are too! Rally House Old Town’s Store Manager, Harry Bell said fans lined up by 7:30 a.m. before the store opened.
“They were energetic. It just so happens, our truck pulled up with more gear. That just turned them to a whole other level,” said Bell.
Two shipments later and more than 80 boxes, fans kept coming.
“Thank you for making the boots possible last night, Arizona. It’s nothing personal,” said Mike Jungen, RedZone Mortgage owner and Rangers fan, as he shows off his snake-skinned boots.
Jungen has been going to Rangers games since he was a little kid. Now, he’s hoping to pass that spirit onto his children.
“I just recently got married, just recently had my first daughter. Now, there’s the Rangers World Series. I’d say that’s probably number five in the top five accomplishments right now,” said Jungen.
Of course, his family is still topping the list.
“I’m loading her up for every age. She’s going to have some world series gear at one, two, three, four until we win the next one,” said Jungen.
Fans are already looking ahead but still taking in this big win.
“Oh my gosh. This has really happened. We’re world champions,” said Finklea.
