DALLAS — This time a year ago, neither the Texas Rangers or Creed knew what the next month-plus would hold for both of them.
But what a wild ride it was.
The Rangers made the playoffs and word soon got out that the team had a go-to band blasting through the clubhouse stereo: Creed, the late-90s, early-2000s rock band.
The Creed-inspired Rangers kept winning, beating the Baltimore Orioles and then moving on to face the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series. By the time the Rangers hosted the Astros for the first time in that series, it was official: Creed was the sound of the Texas playoff run, to the point that the Rangers invited them to the game.
The rest is Rangers history: Texas went on to win the World Series and Creed announced a reunion tour.
On Wednesday night, that tour brought Creed to Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas. And you know Creed had to give a special shoutout to the Rangers and all of North Texas.
The band played a clip of the Rangers winning the World Series, a moment that prompted the Dos Equis crowd to erupt.
"You guys are making my dreams come true, my friends lead singer," Scott Stapp said. "I love you, Dallas. And thank you, Texas Rangers. for an incredible World Series. What a ride for all of us. You took us higher! Let's do it again."
Creed continues its tour Friday night in San Antonio and Saturday night in The Woodlands, near Houston. Then they'll return to North Texas and play Dickies Arena on Nov. 13.
