ARLINGTON, Texas — The long saga between Bally Sports and the Texas Rangers might officially have come to a close.

Maybe.

ESPN on Wednesday reported that Diamond Sports Group, the Bally parent company going through bankruptcy proceedings, said it will stop broadcasting games in 2025 for 11 clubs, including the Rangers.

However, ESPN also reported that a Diamond source said the company is "still hopeful of agreeing to new terms" with the 11 clubs, although Major League Baseball has questioned the company's viability.

The Atlanta Braves will be the only team Bally will carry next season.

The news isn't a total surprise -- the Rangers' relationship with Bally was in question after their deal expired at the conclusion of the regular season Sunday.

Last week, the Sports Business Journal reported that the Rangers are looking into a "direct-to-distributor broadcast model" that would include a streaming app.

The Rangers haven't announced anything official just yet.

The ESPN report said that seven of the 11 teams being dropped by Bally were under contract for 2025. They'll have to either negotiate a new deal with Diamond or find a different network, according to ESPN.
