Newly named Texas baseball coach David Pierce has added some name recognition to his first Longhorns commitments as Jaden Woodson, the son of former Dallas Cowboys defensive back Darren Woodson and Argyle standout infielder Brenden Dixon announced commitments Tuesday for the Class of 2019.

A shortstop/outfielder Woodson (6’1, 175-pounder) played for Jesuit's junior varsity last season as the Rangers won the UIL Class 6A state title. He previously played football at Trinity Christian Addison before transferring to Jesuit. The elder Woodson was a standout safety on three Cowboys Super Bowl champions and is now an NFL analyst who lives in North Dallas, where Jaden has been a multi-sport standout in youth sports.

Dixon (6-, 170) helped Argyle reach the Class 4A regional finals before losing to Texarkana Pleasant Grove. Dixon and Woodson play for Tommy Hernandez' Dallas Tigers select program.

The Class of 2019 is another strong group of prospects from North Texas. Colleyville Heritage's Bobby Witt Jr., the son of former Texas Rangers pitcher Bobby Witt, and Flower Mound standout Austin Wallace have also committed. Witt committed to his father's alma mater Oklahoma while Wallace, the son of Flower Mound coach Danny Wallace, also committed to former Texas coach Augie Garrido.
