ARLINGTON, Texas — We're just under 100 days until one of the marquee events of the summer taking place here in North Texas: Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
As the days count down, each fighter are making their media rounds. Tyson went on the the Fox News Channel's "Hannity," where the legendary boxer said Paul is "greatly mistaken" for thinking he will be able to do damage to the baddest man on the planet.
In a rebuttal appearance on Fox News Channel's "Jesse Watters Primetime," Paul insisted Tyson is "underestimating him" and said "at the end of the day, his hand would be raised."
"I think he’s underestimating me. I truly, I truly think that. And it’s a heavyweight fight," Paul said. "He’s the bigger man, but I’m the faster man. He’s the much stronger man, but I’m fresh. He’s experienced. I’m smart, but, in the ring, he may be smarter. So, it’s a really interesting matchup. But I think the whole world … and I think a lot of people see his training videos. And, yes, he looks like a beast. He’s a dog. He’s ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson. But I believe I have what it takes to beat him. I know this is the toughest test of my life, and it’s an honor to be in there with Mike. But, at the end of the day, I’m gonna be the one who gets my hand raised."
Paul even joked in his interview with Watters that Tyson "can’t bite my ear off if I knock his teeth out."
Both fighters have been posting training sessions on their social media pages, Tyson's last being on March 16 and Paul's on March 28.
When was Mike Tyson's last fight?
This depends on how you look at Tyson's boxing career. If you look exclusively at his professional boxing matches, Tyson hasn't fought a sanctioned fight since 2005, a corner retirement loss to Kevin McBride, back when Tyson was 38 years old.
However, Tyson fought an exhibition match in 2020, when he was 54 years old, against a 51-year-old Roy Jones Jr. The Tyson-Jones fight ended in a split draw. Ironically enough, this fight card also featured Paul, who fought NBA star Nate Robinson.
When was Jake Paul's last fight?
Paul's last boxing match was earlier this past weekend, a first-round knockout against professional boxer and Golden Glove winner Ryan Bourland. The 27-year-old Cleveland native has amassed a 9-1 professional boxing record, fighting professional athletes, other celebrities, and more recently, professional fighters.
